It’s been a mild winter, even by Southern California standards, but for those who are starting to feel the chill, here’s some personal finance reading to get you through your day. Some stories I gathered from around the Yakezie network: First Gen American with How to Take a Break from Toxic People Financial Samurai with Always be the Underdog Financially Consumed shares PT Money’s Personal Finance Blogger Map Well Heeled Blog with Income, Goals, and How Much is...

It’s Finally June Round-Up Edition

Posted by in Articles, Yakezie | 4 comments

Now that it’s June, I realize I’m mid-way through the year and need to reevaluate my goals. Initially, my Boost My Savings goal was to save $4,500 by the end of this month. Frankly, I don’t think I’m going to make that goal. However, instead of throwing in the towel, I’m going to set a minimum goal to save at least $3,600 by the end of this month. I’m almost there, just a few hundred short. I still look forward to summer as a time of play, yet I’ve...

Yakezie Carnival: Easter Sunday Edition

Posted by in Articles, Yakezie | 13 comments

For my birthday (last week) I wanted my bike tuned-up and to finally open that investment account that I had been researching for months. Well, I got both. My bike is now shifting smoothly and I finally opened up a mutual fund through USAA. It’s a very conservative, low-cost fund that I can manage myself. After months of research, opening up a slow-moving, long-term wealth building fund seemed appropriate. I already dabble in stocks (which are doing quite well) and adding the mutual fund...

It’s Freakin’ Rainin’ Sunday Edition

Posted by in Articles, personal finance, Yakezie | 3 comments

Maybe it was because I was gloating too much about our warm, sunny weather followed up by some beautiful photos of deck-living. Or perhaps it was yesterday’s ‘Supermoon’; whatever the cause, I’m now bearing the brunt of a full blown rain storm. So much for the first day of Spring being a bright one. Instead of riding my bike to Starbucks, I’m stuck inside preparing my own coffee (which is probably a good thing since I’m on a budget) and working today. For...

Yakezie Carnival Round-Up

Posted by in Articles, Yakezie | 2 comments

Many months have past since I last hosted the last Yakezie Carnival. Though I had the date tentatively set in my mind, I sort of forgot it was my turn to host this month! Must be all that turkey tryptophan that’s clouding my mind. So without further adieu, here is a smattering of some of my Yakezie comrades (working my way up the ladder here, a follow-up carnival will be needed!): UPDATE: I realize I missed my one and only carnival submission via email! So, so sorry, Neal! Here it...
