Wrapping Paper Alternatives

I have to admit that when it comes to the holidays, I am a procrastinator. It’s the only time of year, and the only area in my life, where I just can’t seem to get a head start. Part of this is due to my own internal struggle with shopping: I really dislike it. Over the past couple of years my husband and I have narrowed down our gift giving to only immediate family and simplified our gifts by purchasing one family gift for the adults, like an Omaha Steak food sampler. How ’bout a Lexus for Xmas?!

Posted by on Dec 7, 2009 in Blog, personal finance | 0 comments

Lately I’ve been hearing a particular Lexus radio commercial that’s really getting on my nerves. One reason it bugs me is that the first few words of the commercial goes something like, “..box of bows..” and it sounds to me like “box of bones.”  I always have difficulties trying to decipher the announcers words. Within the last year or so, my husband and I have become very...

I didn’t go shopping on Black Friday. Actually, let me clarify, I didn’t go to the malls or to Wal-Mart or any other big box store. I don’t like shopping through out the year, and so I definitely don’t like going out on the most frantic shopping day of the year. It must have something to do with my clautrophobia.  I did, however, go to the grocery store and found out that no one grocery shops on that day. This was wonderful, it took seconds to check out, something I...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Posted by on Nov 26, 2009 in Blog | 0 comments

For a short post on a long day, Happy Thanksgiving! What will I be doing today? Visiting my parents with my husband (grudgingly) and eating my mom’s fine cooking. Our day will be similar to many others: drive to our parent’s house a couple of hours away, converse and be thankful, take a walk around the neighborhood in the warm sun, eat dinner, eat pie! Finally, drive back home while discussing my crazy family. You gotta love crazy families! And some things I’m thankful for...
