I can’t believe it’s already June! The years just seem to fly by. It’s that time again when I need to check my progress to see how I’m doing on my goals:

  • Save $6,000 this year
  • Ride 1,000 miles on my bike
  • Increase my readership to 375 readers daily

So how am I doing at day 150?

Biking

So far, so good. I’m averaging about 80+ miles a month and if I keep that up, I should come in at 1,000 miles by the end of the year. July will be my most difficult month with biking – the weather gets HOT and I’ve taken a summer teaching gig in a city 25 miles away. So much for biking that month. But I’m still on target.

Blog

When I average out my WordPress Jet Pack stats with my Site Meter stats, I’m around 300 readers per day. My page views are much higher (pushing 400 per day) but I’m just not sure why my Jet Pack stats are so much higher than my Site Meter stats. It could be that Jet Pack can’t differentiate between visits vs. page views. However, based on this information I’m mostly on target.

Saving Money

This month I fell flat. Two unexpected expenses –  a car repair and tax bill – got in the way of me saving the $500 a month needed to meet my year-end goal. Thankfully, I was still able to contribute to my mutual funds (which I’m not counting towards the total of the $6,000 goal). I should be back on track this month and able to contribute to my high yield savings account, yet I’ll have to get creative to make up for the lost $500 savings for May. With hotel and car rental expenses coming up this month for a wedding, it will be tight making my$500 savings goal for June let alone try and squeeze out another $500 for last month.  Progress:  A Wee Bit Off Target.

Not too shabby overall, but I need to make sure I don’t fall behind on my savings goal which is the more important of the three.

How are your goals progressing?

  1. Cool article! I envy you for how you saved a lot of bucks.. I always wasted that much, haha! Hope I can be a wise person in the near future, Thanks for sharing.. Got me inspired, I am aiming to get a good traffic to my blog as well… 🙂

  2. Congrats on your goals! If your worst is only a “wee bit off target” then you’re doing pretty well.

I had financial 3 goals this year:

    1. Restore my savings to $8,000
    2. Pay off the loan on the family van
    3. Put $2,000 in my IRA.

So far, I hit my savings goal, but the van loan is sliding into next spring and I haven’t put anything in the IRA.

I know that sounds bad, but next spring is still 1 year ahead of schedule to pay off the loan, and I was counting on some side income for work that usually comes in the fall for the IRA… so, there’s still time to hit my goals. (I hope) 😉

  3. I went through the car & tax bill a couple of months ago… it can be painful, eh? At least it’s done, and don’t lose sight of the longer-term goal. 🙂

Dont let the tax man get in the way of your goals, fight back! (or just pay the tax and move on). They tried to get me this year, but I got a lot of it back.

My goals are doing halfway decent. My blog goals are on target but my weight loss goal is so so. My lazy goal is a hard one to beat but I’d say I’m doing halfway decent on this one too. Glad to see you are on target and keep it up!

  6. Nice work toward your goals! I haven’t done a comprehensive “check in” on my goals yet this year. This is a good time to do that, seeing that we’re nearly halfway done with the year. Wow…already!

  7. I see in most of the cases you are on your target or near to it. I think you will achieve all your goals. I don’t want to talk about mine since it’s a little bit mess 🙁

This is so inspiring! I am now inspired to reach my goal in saving money ans weight loss… Loosing weight is hard for me to accomplish, but I think as I read this blog, I am now more inspired to do this.

  9. These post is an informative one. I see in most of the cases you are on your target or near to it. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Not too shabby! Keep working on it and I’m sure you’ll meet your goals!

  11. Well for me, this is really inspiring and I guess we should spread this to the whole world for people to know.. Anyway, great job!

  12. How I wish I can also be able to do biking at your level. I only do it once a week, with a very short route.

  13. I just checked in on my goals and I seem to be on target too for the most part. It’s good to do a mid year check in to keep yourself on track.
