I didn’t go shopping on Black Friday. Actually, let me clarify, I didn’t go to the malls or to Wal-Mart or any other big box store. I don’t like shopping through out the year, and so I definitely don’t like going out on the most frantic shopping day of the year. It must have something to do with my clautrophobia.  I did, however, go to the grocery store and found out that no one grocery shops on that day. This was wonderful, it took seconds to check out, something I need to remember.

Today, is Cyber Monday, will I go out and shop at places like Best Buy? No. Fortunately, I have enough technology gadgets that are fairly new that I don’t need to purchase any more at the moment. A flat panel television would be nice, but I don’t need it. I don’t even want one right now.

Yet, I know that technology and electronic gifts are well received items that family members like to buy their spouses, children, or parents. I came across a few blogs that listed some of the best deals today (thanks to WillVideoforFood.com):

As a side note, if you are celebrating a frugal holiday season this year, I am in no way promoting shopping just for the sake of purchasing items because they are on sale. That’s what many advertisers are hoping for this year. Every year, stores  hope that the sales will bring shoppers in and encourage impulse purchases. Hopefully you won’t believe that if you don’t spend money, our economy will continue on with its demise all because you didn’t whip out your credit card. I personally don’t believe this. Our economy will eventually cycle through this downturn and improve. Maybe it will improve a little slower than in past recessions, but there are so many facets to our economy that consumers are only one part of the equation. Don’t be bullied into spending money!

  1. I found a good deal on the stadium chairs I want, but no free shipping ($20). And I can’t find a cyber Monday deal on them.

But I didn’t find any ‘must haves’ today. Perhaps, I am just not too enticed this year to spend my money freely. 🙂

Slightly off topic for cybermonday, but I was thinking about your comment on my blog re: CalStrs. There is indeed a CalStrs home loan program https://www.calstrs.com/HELP/faqs/hlpfaqs.aspx
I would be careful in evaluating all of the pros and cons, e.g., just because CalStrs might help with a 2nd loan, is that the best for you? Food for thought.
