Big ideas for Smaller Living, Going Green, Saving Money and the Planet.

Living in Southern California most of my life, I’ve only seen or heard thunderstorms a handful of times and snow twice (without having to go to the mountains.) I can remember the onslaught of February rain in 1997 and 2005, that’s how infrequently we get consistent showers day after day – I remember the dates!

Living in Southern California where the starter home prices average in the $400,000’s makes it difficult to ever imagine owning a traditional 3 or 4-bedroom home with a little bit of land, especially on an average income. So, renting has been the way of life for me.

This year, instead of coming up with annual goals that I wouldn’t meet as the year progressed, I decided to select a few goals for each quarter. Having a shorter amount of time to fulfill them, I chose four smallish goals for this quarter that I felt would be attainable:

Sometimes, it’s better to make do with what you have. Not only do you save money, but you save time and resources. When it comes to living space, you might feel limited by the floor space, but if you look up you might find more just what you need. I’m talking about attic and loft conversions.
