I don’t go overboard decorating for the holidays. I keep it simple – uncolored twinkle lights, holiday-scented candles, a door wreath, holiday cards hung up around the house – but Pinterest has me a little bit more interested in decorating this year. Without spending a bundle, check out some of the ideas I found browsing the boards:
Simple wicker baskets with candle lighting. I’d personally fill them with the battery operated flicker lights; it’s just safer that way. Decorate them with some faux or real poinsetta flowers, holly, and/or ribbon and voila! A beautiful indoor or outdoor decoration.

A little digging through the attic or closets will find holiday ornaments of some sort, especially the glass ball-type ornaments. Here’s a nice idea for a lighting fixture, hang similarly colored glass ornaments at varying lengths and sizes to infuse some holiday spirit in your home:

If you live somewhere near pine trees, pine cones are always a great way to decorate for the holidays. Here’s a simple and easy idea for outdoor decorating; fill up a few empty pots (if you live where it snows, perhaps your annuals have died leaving you with empty pots!) with pine cones, pine boughs, and a few holiday ornaments.

A few origami ideas popped up on Pinterest and this holiday box idea was one I really liked:

If you’re fairly crafty, you can do almost anything with pine branches. If you purchase a Christmas tree, use the bottom branches that normally need trimming for wreaths, mantle decorations, or table decor. If you don’t buy a real tree or skip the tree altogether (that’s me!) ask a neighborhood tree lot for the extra trimmings. Some lots in my neighborhood sell them (that’s LA for ya!), but you might luck out and get some for free.

As I boost my holiday decorations around the house this year, I’ll make a point to share them!
What are your favorite holiday inspirations?

Well I don’t do the decorating at my place, and most our dcorations we use from year to year, but I’ll share this with my wife, she might like some of them! I like the hanging boxes thing.
@TB – If she’s not already on pinterest, have her check it out. Of course be prepared for her to be hooked!
I like the hanging gift boxes one too! My favorite decorations this year are the Christmas card tree I taped onto a wall inside, our tree, and the holiday frog in my garden. 🙂
