I’m off this week for my summer camping trip. For those who have an aversion to camping, let me just remind you that camping can by luxurious by most standards. Some amenities that I make sure I have on hand are:

  • Air mattress. Keeps us off the ground and allows us to sleep like babies!
  • Generator. Powers the air pump making it very easy to inflate the mattress.
  • Favorite snacks. We bring our favorite snacks camping – almonds, beef jerky, bottled Starbucks, beer and lots of it!
  • Large tent. Though it takes a few extra minutes (okay, maybe 20) to set up, it’s worth the effort. It can hold all our gear and allows us to stand up throughout the entire footprint.

This trip, we reserved a spot in a developed campground with showers. We usually allow ourselves to get a bit grungy, but this time I might take advantage of the solar-heated showers. 🙂 We’re also walking distance to a small arts and crafts town that has a great coffee house (again, it’s not a “roughing-it” type of trip.)

Enjoy your week and I’ll be back soon!

My daughter and I just got back from our annual summer Father/Daughter camping trip. We saw lots of wildlife and had such a great time!

    • @Paul – Camping is great for kids. I think every child should experience camping and the great outdoors! Good to hear you enjoyed your trip, we did too!
