You may have noticed that Little House in the Valley has a new look. I’ve refreshed the look of my blog and refocused my posts into the most popular categories.

Why I changed the look….

It was time for something new. I also felt that I needed to re-layout my blog. I’m not just a blog; I’m a source of information for people searching for little house plans, Tuff Shed plans, and alternative living ideas. I felt that many of the great posts I’ve written were getting lost in the archives and I needed to make them more easily accessible.

My Focus…

I’m still focused on personal finance with a twist on little house plans. I enjoy writing about different options for owning a home and this seems to resonate with my readers. I wanted to make sure that those looking for these topics could easily find them without losing my readers who enjoy reading my personal finance articles. Melding personal finance and home plans into one place through a creative layout made the most sense.

Kinks and Tweaks…

I’m still working out all the kinks to this new theme, so please bear with me. There are always things that need to be fixed or manipulated to work with the content I have. I see lots of style sheet tweaking that needs to happen over the next week, but the content won’t be affected.

I hope you enjoy the refreshed look and be sure to browse my articles!

    Congrats on the new look. I’ve only had my current design up for about three months and I’m already itching to make some changes.

    One thing that’s a little awkward is the color of the text when typing a comment. The background is grey and the text is just a different shade of grey, making it a little hard to read. Black text would probably be a little better.

    • @Money Beagle – Thanks for that tip. I’m still tweaking the style sheet a bit and some of the colors aren’t quite what I’d like them to be. I’m going to change that!

  2. I love the new look! The Little House logo you have is so creative though I’ll miss the old header picture that depicted the valley.

    I find the font you’re using in the right hand column (with the blogroll) very visually attractive. Like, it seriously makes me happy and I don’t know why. Great job 🙂

    The new look is awesome. I find is important to refresh the look from time to time to experiment with design and web site optimization in order to attract new readers.

  4. wow, very different! I know blog changes take forever and there’s a ton of tweaking, so good luck!

    I like the new design! My only complaint is the striped background. It makes it a bit more difficult to read. Maybe it’s just my laptop and I need to double check on my big monitor.

  6. @Joe – Took the tip and removed the stripes. Hopefully that clears up the image for you on matter what monitor you use. 🙂

    @Daniel- Yes, it’s different, but still the same content. Hopefully it will make it easier to find stuff.

    @DesignContest – I agree. I like to refresh the look of web pages every couple of years.

    @GB – I know. I miss the hill too. I’m going to play with the logo and see if I can incorporate it back into the header.

    @Michelle- Thanks for the compliment!

    @Daisy – Thanks!
