spring home maintenance Tips & Tricks
Did you know that now is the best time of the year to start checking up on your home maintenance? All those awkward jobs that you can’t get done during the winter months, now need your attention and there could also be damage caused by winter storms that need looking at. With all this in mind I’ve gathered 5 home maintenance jobs you shouldn’t neglect this Spring.
Take a look at your AC
Wouldn’t it be awful if you reach for the air con for the first time this year and it just doesn’t work? You’d have to call up a technician and probably have to join an incredibly long waiting list for parts, servicing and maintenance. But, if you get it checked out now – click here for professional AC repair services – you can rest assured that your A/C unit is in good working order, and if you do need parts or additional repairs, they can be completed before the hot weather descends.
Clean your gutters
High winds and winter debris can play havoc with your plumbing and drainage system, especially when they clog up all your drains and downspouts. Take some time this weekend to clear all of your drainage systems. If climbing up a ladder is a little out of your comfort zone, hire a professional.
Check all your paths and your driveway
Your beautifully cemented driveway and your flower-lined garden paths have probably had it hard over the Winter months. When the ice thaws and then freezes again it can crack and damage concrete, which in turn can create uneven paths, trip hazards and even damage to your cars. Depending on the type of material used on your paths and driveways you may be able to complete some patching work, rather than having to replace it all entirely.
Check your fences and perimeters
Again, Winter does all kinds of damage to our properties, so it’s important to check your fences, hedges and the parameters of your property for any weaknesses or problems. The last thing you want is for your children or your pets to get out onto the main road or allow someone access to your property without your permission.
Check your roof
Loose tiles, damaged slates, holes, missing roof tiles – Spring is the best time to check your roof for any issues. You don’t even have to climb up onto your roof to inspect it, you can check it from the sidewalk. And if you do spot anything that requires an expert, then call one up!
