With the cost of owning a house and low employment rate in the country, it is difficult to have a relaxed lifestyle. There are so many bills to pay, and a lot of necessities to buy. It is no wonder why plenty of people are turning into smaller home space to manage their finances.
It is cheaper to live in smaller house because it is relatively easier to manage. You don’t use as much electricity to light the house, neither does it need much to make it cool during the summer. It is also easy to clean, and feels intimate and personal.
But living in a small space is not for everyone. If you want to live comfortably in tight spaces, here are some tips you should remember:
Improve the Line of Sight
The line of sight is unobstructed view of a person. To improve the line of sight of your house, avoid using solid walls as dividers. Try an open plan as well to keep the room breathable and spacious. You’re your room organized for a less constraining view.
Mind the Vertical Storage
Consider vertical storage to improve floor space. You can make your small property easier to navigate if there are lesser cabinets and drawers on the floor. Securing storages on walls or ceiling are easy to do, so no need to hire an expert. You can also use murphy beds that can be tilted to save space.
Live Simple
This means, avoid buying unimportant items. Do not buy clothes or shoes if you have enough of them. Living a simple life will help you avoid accumulating baggage you don’t use. These items will fill up your room, and in a month or two you will have a hard time moving around. Book worms, for example, stock plenty of books. After reading, they pile their books somewhere and it stays there for a long time. You can sell these items or give them to your friends.
Never Compare
It’s not just about the physical appearance of your house that makes you comfortable. It’s also about your attitude. You should never compare your life with other people who live in bigger houses. Accept that a small property is enough for your lifestyle. Comparing your house with others will only make you feel inferior and it shouldn’t be the case. Remember, life is not measured with how big your house is.
Live Like You Normally Do
Not because you live in a small space, doesn’t mean you have to live a life different from normal people. With proper home design, you can still invite friends over for dinner or movie night. Actually, a small house gives an intimate and close interaction among friends.
Living in a small space can be comfortable and it helps you save a lot of money. However, if you are not the type of person who would live in a 100 square meter house, there are affordable houses for sale via Lend Lease. You can also check applications like Zillow or Trulia to make house hunting easier.
The keys to living comfortably in small houses are in your hands. Now it is time to open the possibilities of relaxed lifestyle in affordable and cozy space.

Love this! We are currently living/traveling in our RV almost full-time and I love it.
We’ve talked about RV living and it’s still on the “possibilities” list. I’ve checked out your RV articles, and they are definitely helpful. Great to hear you love it!
We find that comfortable outdoor space is key to living in small quarters. We currently live full time in a 34 foot sail boat and spend as much time outdoors in the cockpit as possible. It makes our cabin below feel cozy instead of stifling.
So if I were looking for a small traditional house, it would need a nice porch or yard for outdoor living space. It’s a little tougher to pull off in a cold climate. But you should do fine.
