Five days after our initial move-in date, and our lives are sort of getting back to normal. Though we had planned and organized and boxed the majority of our belongings, so many things were too difficult to pack due to size or weight, so that many items were hand-moved. That increased the amount of back-and-forth movement for days on end (our last load was completed yesterday – on day 4!) We also didn’t correctly estimate how many things we had in the garage at our rental house. Now sitting in our dining room is a work bench and tool chest that will need to be hidden away or sold at some point. The work bench in particular. Who needs a work bench in an apartment!?
However, my husband has been diligently unpacking and setting up our new place and thankfully our bedroom and living room are almost finished. Next on his list is the kitchen. Of course, I am helpful when it comes to unpacking some of the boxes, but given that he is home more often than me he needs to feel somewhat settled before getting back to work. I took a couple of days off to help with the initial move (something I hadn’t budgeted into the total cost of moving) and now am back at work full force only to come home everyday to a slightly better looking apartment.
When our place is finished, I’ll post a picture or two. It is a lovely apartment that will be beautiful once we get all of our things unpacked.

This sounds exactly like my last move. We totally didn’t realize how much stuff we had in our rental apartment basement. Out of site, out of mind. Congrats on the move. Exciting times.
