Who doesn’t daydream about winning the lotto, inheriting a fortune, or coming into a windfall? Of course, most of us don’t rely on this happenstance to fund our future and we make financial plans accordingly (ie. we save for a rainy day and fund out retirement accounts.) But it’s fun to think about what a person might do with all that money; sail the seas, traipse through Europe without a care, volunteer for things you might not have time for, or become a philanthropist.
Of course it isn’t completely absurd to think about winning the lotto. People do win. Just take a look at the infographic below from Daily Infographic.com of the top 10 Lotto jackpots. I think that if I ever won the Lotto (of course, it might help if I played!) I’d stay on the down low about it. 😉

Wow. That’s a lot of money!
I can only dream of winning!
It would be nice to win, but I’m not going to get my hopes up or spend a ton of money on it. One ticket once in a blue moon is enough for me.
That is definitely a lot of money. I always wonder what use that money could support that would change something in this world for the better instead of just being spent frivolously? You can do a lot of 2/3 of a $billion.
what an awesome infographic – i talk about what I’d do if I won the lotto a lot, but I dont know why – I dont even play!
If I win I will buy my local football club 🙂

I’ve often heard that winners usually end up in the poor house within 5-10 years because they simply don’t know how to manage the money. They say having that kind of sudden wealth is burdensome. I say that’s a burden I’d like to try! 😉
@Joe Morgan – I’d like to have some of that “burden” too! Believe me, I’ve fantasized about a windfall and most of it would be invested and saved!
If I could win once!
@Crystal – I usually only play the lotto when it gets big as well. Which is about twice a year. It’s fun to dream about the big jackpot!
