With a gloomy weekend precipitating a rainy week, I found myself a bit sluggish this past weekend. But the gray weather was a good excuse to browse some of my favorite blogs for interesting content, and who am I to complain about the weather any how? It’s still only in the 60’s with sunny days on the horizon!

Personal Finance

  • Watson Inc. with Good Old Middle Class or Wealthy: You Decide Redux. Roshawn makes a good point that a tax increase for the wealthy may not solve our economy’s problems (no one likes tax increases, any way!) On the other hand, people making over $400,000 and “just getting by” need to stop belly aching about a 3% increase!
  • Yes I am Cheap with It’s Your Fault That You’re Still Unemployed. This post was really scrumptious…the kind where you just have to keep reading. If this person were my friend, I wouldn’t be able to take the complaints anymore!
  • In the Trenches with Why I Often Buy Used. I like purchasing used large appliances; often they are half the price and lightly used. Her post shows how much you can save!
  • Deliver Away Debt with How to Spend More than You Should on Your Cell Phone Bill. As someone who rarely remembers to charge her phone, forgets it at home, can’t figure out most of the functions, I think I might be spending too much. The only silver lining to my bill is that I share minutes with my husbands phone, so maybe that makes up for my stupidity.

Entrepreneurial Ventures

  • Couple Money with a guest post by Mike Collins with Ideas for Starting Your Own Home Business. A few good points on where to look for jobs, but I think the most important is beware of scams! So many online ads mention making thousands of dollars by working from home. If any of them were legitimate, wouldn’t we all be doing that?

Travel and Food

  • Wandering Earl with Food, Food, Food and More Turkish Food. Since I’m not traveling anywhere exotic anytime soon, I’m living vicariously through Earl. I’m not much of a baklava fan, but Earl seems to know quite a bit about it. Check out his adventures in Turkey!
  • The Saved Quarter shares a delicious Pumpkin Chipotle Chili. All I can say is, YUM! It sounds like a terrific fall weather meal (I think I’d serve cornbread with it to finish it off!)

The food posts have made me realize I’m famished! There’s nothing better than a hot meal on a cold day. Enjoy your Monday!

Thanks for including me in your list! The chili is really delicious and I do often serve it with cornbread muffins. Yum!

I’m off to do a little more reading! 🙂
