Alright, so maybe I’m a little jealous of this site. It’s a “Why didn’t I think of that?!” moment. However, I can’t think of everything and honestly, I love this idea; a real estate site that focuses on Tiny House Listings.
Inspired by a story on Sunset.com of a couple building their own off-grid retreat in the Oregon forest for $10K ($57K including the land purchase), I found miniHome.
Downsizing has been a hot trend during this recession (or recession as of late if you think it’s over) and one way some people are downsizing is in their everyday abode. From Tiny Tumbleweeds to small eco-footprints, small is the new “in.” And small sometimes becomes tiny – tiny can be linked to freedom in some ways; freedom from too much stuff, too much debt, or just too much of everything.
I love residential architecture and researching the history of old homes. One topic that’s piqued my interest over the years is mail-order “kit” homes. From homes purchased through the Sears Catalog to Lustron homes to present day Tumbleweed homes, I seem to be obsessed with kit homes.
